Dr. Sender Herschorn

Sender Herschorn, BSc, MDCM, FRCSC

Dr. Sender Herschorn is Professor and Chair of the Division of Urology at the University of Toronto and attending Urologist and Head of Urodynamics Laboratory at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He holds the Martin Barkin Chair in Urological Research, the first University Chair in Urology. His cross-hospital appointments include Lithotripsy Unit, St. Michael’s Hospital, Associate Staff, Department of Surgery/Urology at The Toronto Hospital (Toronto Western Division) and Women’s College Hospital.

Dr. Herschorn has been a senior investigator in clinical trials relating to urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, and erectile dysfunction.  He has been the recipient of many honours and awards including being cited in “The Best Doctors in America” and “Best Doctors in Canada”. He has won undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education awards at the University of Toronto as well as the Zimskind Award of the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology. He won the W.T. Aikins award from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine for excellence in undergraduate medical teaching. He is Vice Chair of the Canadian Male Sexual Health Council and President-elect of the Canadian Urological Association. He is the 2010 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology.

Dr. Herschorn has published peer-reviewed and non peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and co-edited medical books. He wrote the chapter on Vaginal Surgery for Prolapse and Incontinence in the last 2 editions of Campbell Urology. He is an Editorial Board Member of Canadian Urological Association Journal and Neurourology and Urodynamics. He is a member of the Canadian Male Sexual Health Council and completed a term on the Governing Board of the Canadian Continence Foundation. He was Chairman of the Surgery for Male Incontinence Committee at the four International Consultations on Urinary Incontinence. He is the Scientific Chair of the combined ICS and IUGA Meeting to be held in Toronto Canada in August, 2010.

Dr. Herschorn has also delivered presentations and lectures throughout Canada and the United States, as well as in Europe, Asia, Australasia, and South America.
